Dear Hillside Family,

Be sure to join us this Sunday for the first of two messages I’ll be sharing on one of the most influential Christ followers ever – his name? The Apostle Paul.  His life was forever changed the day he met the risen Christ (Acts 9) and his inspiration is still being felt today through his life, witness, and the 13 books he has written (nearly half of the 27 books making up the New Testament).

One of my favorite verses he wrote is 1 Cor. 15:58 where, in light of Easter’s victory, he said, “So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless”.

I thank God to be part of an amazing church here at Hillside that is seeking to remain “strong and immovable” in fulfilling the mission we’ve been given. That’s what it means to be faithful. For me, I see that faithfulness in so many ways.

I see it this weekend in a team of 20 staff and volunteers from our children’s ministry who are investing their time in attending the NEXT conference in Truro so they can keep getting better in reaching out to the Next Gen – amazing!

I see it as we provide the opportunity for more people to respond to the Spirit’s nudge and follow Jesus through the celebration of believer’s baptism next Sunday (the 26th). What a joy to host last night’s “All In” class and to know that more are confirmed for this Sunday night’s class, too – exciting!

I see it in the vision behind our “Imagine” campaign which is all about keeping the momentum going by making room for more. The next step in this project will take place this coming Thursday night, April 23rd, 7pm (be sure to “save the date”) as together we gather to finalize plans so that we can begin construction this spring on a new auditorium – thrilling!

Friends, I could go on, but I think you get the point. Let’s continue to be the kind of church that resists complacency and instead seeks to remain faithful to our risen, victorious Savior in the days ahead. By the way, one very practical aspect of that faithfulness actually takes place every Sunday. Each week we as Christ followers are given the opportunity to remain strong and immovable about the practice of gathering for worship. I hope its a priority for you! And your family, too. Our team is fired up and the service is going to be fresh, relevant, and super meaningful. Can’t wait.. Hope you’re planning to join us. You’ll be glad you did!

See you soon,

Pastor Jerry
