“But just as you excel in everything… see that you also excel in this grace of giving”. 2 Corinthians 8:7
Stewarding our Resources to Further God’s Kingdom
Hillside is committed to building bridges with those far from God, generously extending blessing to those in need in our broken world, and helping each of us become a fully-devoted follower of Jesus Christ. It’s our privilege and joy to partner together with God in advancing his kingdom cause in the world by using our financial resources through the local church.
Ways to Give at Hillside
At Hillside, there are multiple ways to give. Each method allows God’s work to be done as you are faithful in your calling to give back in a way that blessed others and advances God’s purposes in the world. Find one that’s right for you…
There are several benefits to online giving both for you and our church. Some of them are…
Honouring God – When you give joyfully either as a one-time donation or a recurring gift to God’s work you are reflecting the generous heart of God who loves to give. It’s an expression of worship, honour and praise to God.
Simplicity – You can give your gift at a convenient time that works for you. This option helps individuals and families remain faithful in their giving even when they are out of town or unable to attend a Sunday service.
Security – We utilize an encrypted secure approach with Pay Pal. In fact, online giving is more secure than giving with a cheque or cash because an electronic gift can’t be lost or stolen.
If you are having any problems or need assistance with online giving, you can send an email to our finance person at firstname.lastname@example.org
Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) is the easiest and most effective way to automate your giving. Once it is set up, you may update or change your giving at any time. To sign-up, click the above link or complete an PAD form which is available through the church or by visiting the Welcome Center on Sunday morning. The forms can be mailed, faxed or delivered to the Hillside office.
Regular or special offerings can be made to the church during the worship services by using your own church envelopes. If you would like a set of giving envelopes where you can write cheques or use cash and then place in the offering plate, simply contact the church office or visit the Welcome Center in the main lobby on Sunday mornings and you’ll be given a set there.
The Benefits of Giving
When you give you reflect the generous character of God and have the opportunity to experience the joy of generosity which Jesus talked about when he said, “it is far more blessed to give than it is to receive” (Acts 20:35). Regular, consistent, heartfelt giving is a practical expression of one’s gratitude and worship to God. It’s meant to show that God is a top priority in our lives (Prov. 3:9).
In addition to the spiritual benefits of giving, there are very practical advantages that reduce your income tax. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulates charities under the Income Tax in Canada. Under the Act, donations to registered charities can help to reduce your income tax. Typically, the tax benefit after the initial $200 donation in New Brunswick is over 45%.
