Kitchen Prep
Description: Help a team prepare food the day of or before a church/staff event. Mostly day-time hours, as needed (likely monthly.) Example of possible duties: peel and chop vegetables, baking, shredding cheese, putting meals together, etc. Must adhere to food safety regulations.

Kitchen Clean-Up Crew

Dishwasher
Description: After church/staff events with food services, the Dishwasher cleans and puts away dishes, pots & pans, etc. If you prefer a behind the scenes serve, this could be for you. Could be a monthly serve on any day of the week. Must adhere to food safety regulations.

Coffee Host
Description: The Coffee Host volunteer prepares and serves coffee, tea and water before and after Sunday morning services. Ensures coffee and essentials (cups, lids, sugars, etc) are continually replenished. Greets guests with a warm and friendly smile! Expect to be scheduled about once a month at either 8:50am to 9:45am OR 10:20am to 11:30am service. Volunteers should arrive 30-45 minutes before the start of the morning service. All hosts are encouraged to attend one Sunday morning service.

Growth Group Leader
Description: Lead a group of 8 to 12 adults through a video-based study either weekly or bi-weekly. You’ll be given the materials, training, and a coach!

Description: HSM are looking for people who will host events/meetings/Bible studies in their homes—providing snacks and a comfortable place to meet/hang out.

Camera Operator
Description: Responsible for operating a camera position during the service. This could range from the crane camera, mobile camera, or riser cameras. Individual would be expected to serve at least once per month.

ProPresenter Operator
Description: This position is in charge of running worship lyrics, playing videos and slides during the service. Those who have knowledge with computers would succeed in this position. Individuals would be required to serve at least one Sunday per month.

Front Row Comms/Stage Assistant
Description: The Front Row Communications/Stage Assistant is in charge of ensuring all little details/cues happen at the correct time during the service, while communicating those cues with the Production Team in the tech loft. This person would also be in charge of bringing things on and off stage at times. Those who pay attention to small details would succeed in this position. Individuals would be required to serve approx. once per month or on an “as needed” basis for bigger services (Easter, Baptisms, Christmas Eve, etc.).

Lighting Operator
Description: The lighting operator is in charge of creating seamless lighting changes during the service by using lighting software to fire cues at the correct time. They would also be open to learning how to edit lighting cues and programming them. Individual would be expected to serve at least one Sunday per month.

Meals of Love Team
Description: The Meals of Love team provides meals within the Care Ministry at Hillside. Meals are offered to families/individuals during a time of need and as an act of kindness. Requests for meals arise from various needs, illness, surgery, death of a loved one, etc. Participants are part of a large team of compassionate people, and each participant responds to requests as they desire and are not pressured to choose any particular ask.

Sunday Morning Prayer Team
Description: A Prayer Team Member provides prayer support to Hillside’s congregants after the Sunday morning services. The primary purpose is to pray for people’s needs rather than being a counseling ministry (prayer in the moment, not extensive counselling).

Benevolence Team
Description: The Benevolence Team works together to meet the wide range of financial and physical needs of individuals and families, both within and outside Hillside’s church family. This practical and confidential ministry endeavors to meet a variety of needs such as snow removal, groceries/gift cards, assistance with moving, and small home repairs. Hillside’s HELP ministry is a subset of our Benevolence Team that exists to help Hillside widows and single moms by providing minor home repairs and maintenance services. This serve occurs the third Saturday of the month.

Description: The visitation team provides one-on-one monthly visitation to offer encouragement, comfort, and support to shut-ins or those who are in special care homes.

Set-up Crew

Children’s Ministry Support Helper (various age groups)
Description: Be part of this special team led by our Family Support Coordinator! We have children in our program who need extra support (due to varying medical, developmental, behavioral or social/emotional needs) and we work with a team of Support Helpers who can pair up with a child to assist them so that they can succeed to their full potential and benefit from all that our ministry has to offer! This role is open to adults and high-school students. Flexible scheduling is available as well as role-specific training as needed.

Large Voice Choir
Description: Join a large voice choir (adults or inter-generational) by backing up the worship team and engaging the congregation during some of our services. Greeter
Description: The Greeter welcomes each guest who comes to our doors with a warm and friendly smile! Our desire is to help people feel relaxed and welcomed, and to help our guests if required. Expect to be scheduled about once a month at either the first service or the second service (your choice.). Volunteers must be in position, at the doors, about 30-45 minutes before the start of the morning service and finish 10-15 minutes after the service begins.

Usher
Description: The Ushers greet and welcome guests with a warm and friendly smile each Sunday morning as they arrive in the Auditorium. They hand out sermon notes as guests arrive and they help guests find seats. They are responsible to pass the offering baskets each Sunday morning. As required, they escort any first-time guests to our Connect Centre. They also help with clean-up inside the Auditorium at the end of each service. Expect to be scheduled at least once or twice per month at either the first service or the second service (your choice). Volunteers must arrive 30-45 minutes before the start of the morning service for a quick team huddle and instructions.

Decorator
Description: Help decorate the main church lobby and auditorium during seasonal events and holidays throughout the year. Meet at the church for a few hours of music, fun and decorating (3-6 times per year).

Connect Centre Host
Description: The Connect Centre Hosts help first-time guests fill out a Connect Card and give them a small welcome gift. They also help our guests sign up for any upcoming Hillside events or group activities. They also help people connect with various Hillside staff. Expect to be scheduled about once a month. Volunteer opportunities are on Sunday mornings and include before and after both morning services (from 9:00am – 12:45pm).

Parker
Description: The Parking Volunteers serve in pairs and act as our “first line” greeters for any guests arriving at church on Sunday mornings. Parkers must greet and wave and make everyone feel welcome as they arrive. Assist newcomers with any questions upon arrival (i.e. parking / entrance). If possible, help with car doors for any front door drop-offs. Parkers also count cars in each parking lot. The volunteers serve on a rotational schedule; a split serve of two 45-minute sessions prior to each Sunday morning service. Parkers are encouraged to attend the first service on Sunday mornings.

Administrative Helper
Description: Sporadically, there are administrative duties that arise throughout the year that we may need assistance with. Volunteer duties may include: folding mail, stuffing envelopes and adding postage for church-wide mailouts (4-5 times per year), data entry, etc. Most volunteer opportunities will take place during Hillside’s office hours.
