Dear Hillside Family,
I’m filled with a grateful heart this morning as I reflect on the really meaningful time we enjoyed together last night at our Annual Operations Meeting. We were favoured with a solid turnout (including many who attended an annual meeting for the first time), exciting reports from several staff members about the many impacts in 2016 along with heartfelt words from some of our teens as well as a few new attendees in 2016. The latter were people who started attending in recent months and now call Hillside home. Their refreshing words were such an encouragement to all of us! What a great reminder about why we “made room for more”. The bottom line is that Hillside is on the move and complacency is not an option. Best days ahead!
Friends, the next few weeks are VERY significant for us as we prepare our hearts for Easter Week (only a couple weeks away!). Then, right after Easter, we’ll be launching both Alpha and a Parenting Course. These two highly relevant and engaging courses get started on Sunday night, April 23rd. The weeks ahead provide some incredible opportunities to grow your faith and also to reach out to others.
To help get us fired up about reaching out and sharing our faith with others, we’re pleased to welcome Mike Gordon, a national speaker from Youth for Christ, As our guest speaker this Sunday. Mike is an inspiring speaker who has been on 100 Huntley Street and teamed up with Christian artist Lecrae. He’s the kind of speaker who keeps it real and has an amazing story of transformation that is very compelling to hear. This makes a great fit for week 20 in the “Believe” series, which is “Sharing My Faith”. In addition, Pastor Roger will be hosting the service and our youth band from the Vibe will be participating in the service. Also, several of our teens will be sharing about how God is working in their lives. Did you know that some amazing things are happening in Hillside’s Student Ministry? Well, they are and, in addition to hearing about it last night at the Annual Meeting, you’ll also be able to experience more of it on Sunday. It’s shaping up to be another one of those “can’t miss” kind of Sundays!
Thanks, everyone, for the joy of privilege of serving together with you. Let’s never forget that the church is God’s Plan A to redeem a broken world. And by His grace, we are invited into this sacred task of being His ambassadors together as a lighthouse church in the region. We don’t have to serve, we get to serve – and share and give and partner together for His glory!
PS Ready to explore a ministry opportunity? Want to know more about spiritual gifts? Be sure to join Pastor Dave this Sunday as he hosts the class “Finding Your Serve” this Sunday morning. The class meets at 9am in the Café. It’s not too late to register. Here’s the link to sign up now.
