Dear Hillside Family,
After being slowed a bit last week by the storm, we’re really looking forward to getting fully regrouped this Sunday as we return to our 2 services at 9 and 11am. Can’t wait!
Be sure to join us for more God exalting worship and I’ll be sharing a practical message (week 2 in the Winter “Believe” series) on the vital topic of “prayer”. If you’re someone who has ever struggled with how to pray or if you’ve ever wondered if your prayers really make a difference or not, I believe you’ll find Sunday’s message helpful.
Looking ahead to 2017, our staff enjoyed a solid “Next 90” planning session this week. We’re all really excited about what’s on the horizon for our church as we set our sails for the “Next 90” days and so much more.
But what does this mean for you?
Well, if you’re new in recent weeks or simply haven’t had a chance to get engaged in the Believe series yet, this is your chance. It’s a new year, so why not get engaged? Anyone who needs “Believe” resources for you and your children can stop by the resource table in the lobby on Sunday. And why not get started in a winter “Believe” group? Interested? Here’s the link.
In addition to the Winter “Believe” series, tickets will be available starting this Sunday on a first come, first serve basis for this year’s “Hillside’s Got Talent” on Sunday, Feb. 12. Along with our fall “Homecoming“ picnic in September, “HGT” is one of our two big, church-wide events people look forward to every year.
We’re looking forward to a really fun time of community (who doesn’t need a few laughs in Feb?) with 2 shows you can choose from to attend either the 4pm or 7pm on Feb. 12th. The show will include several Hillside acts as well as a guest improv group called “Panic Squad” from Abbotsford, BC. With more seats due to 2 shows, you have an opportunity to invite your unchurched friends from work, members of your family, or consider attending with your Believe group. It’s designated seating, so don’t wait because when you buy your ticket, you choose your table.
Ok, that’s it for now. It will be a joy to be together on Sunday. Best days ahead!
PS A message to the men… Guys, who doesn’t want to be a better man? I believe we all do and that’s why every winter we look forward to our annual “Better Man” Winter Breakaway at Camp Wildwood. My good friend and our Hillside friend, Tim Schroeder, from Kelowna will be our guest speaker this year on Feb. 17-18. I hope you’re planning to attend. We’re expecting a sellout with 100+ guys again this year. Here’s the link to register. Remember… No man left behind!
