HYM Youth Ministries

An important part to the culture of Hillside is it’s desire to make sure that the NEXT Generation has a firm grasp of who God is in their lives.  Through three different programs, IGNITION, FUEL, and PROPULSION, the youth leadership team strives to build a strong relationship with the Youth of Greater Moncton.

The Mission that Pastor Brian continues to build into each of the youth is God’s desire for them to “ADVANCE THE KINGDOM HEART AND SOUL.” This particular statement comes from 1 Samuel 14 where God’s people are at the point of surrender when two young men defy all odds and inspire a nation. Jonathan and his Armour Bearer rise to the occasion one night while the King (Jonathan’s dad) is setting under a pomegranate tree.  With only one weapon God calls Jonathan and his Armour Bearer to greatness.  The call of those involved in Hillside Youth Ministries is to respond as the Armour Bearer did…..”I am with you Heart and Soul.”  (1 Samuel 14:7)

HYM also uses the life of John the Baptist to inspire the youth to “Advance the Kingdom.” The story that inspires this is found in Matthew 11. On the heals of answering the most pressing question ever asked by John while in prison, “Are you the one to come or are we to expect someone else?” Jesus makes note that “Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John.” Jesus goes on to say that “From the days of John the Baptist until now, the KINGDOM of GOD as been FORCEFULLY ADVANCING.”

What would it look like if each of the youth of Greater Moncton took up the call to “ADVANCE THE KINGDOM HEART AND SOUL?” Hillside Youth Ministries is striving to see the answer to this question.
