Kids KREW
HillTOWN is where kids from Kindergarten to Grade 5 meet on Sunday mornings during both services. Children must be signed in at our registration area in the Lower Lobby and picked up by a parent in HillTOWN at the end of service. Children are welcome to stay for both services as each provides a different learning experience and style.
During the 9:15am service, children will be met by a Small Group Leader for their age group. They will participate in a time of worship developed specifically for children and then engage in a time of directed Bible study appropriate for their stage. The curriculum we are using is called “The Journey”.
From Kindergarten to Grade 2, kids will learn stories from the Bible starting in Genesis and going all the way to Revelation by Grade 2. This helps build the foundation of understanding the Bible and its principles and teachings as they begin to explore who Jesus is, how He gave His life for us and what it means to be Forever Friends with Him.
Children in Grades 3 to 5 are beginning to better understand who God is, what it means to be a Christian and how Jesus can be not only their Forever Friend but more importantly, Lord of their life. They will discuss how He helps us make decisions and how He shapes our worldview. They will learn to worship Him in new ways and they will also be given opportunities to understand what it means to serve and care for others.
During the 11am service, children will be led in a large group setting where they will also participate in a time of age appropriate worship. They will be presented with a BIG Idea and associated memory verse and Bible story. They will be presented the Bible story in a dynamic way each week and will participate in activities as mixed age groups such as crafts, games, devotionals, activity sheets and review activities.
Boys from Grade 3-5 are invited to participate in a special class we have available during this service which gives them a hands-on experience. Peter Atkinson leads this group of boys along with some helpers to learn about Jesus and Biblical principle through woodworking, electrical, sewing, cooking and other activities.
During Half Time from 10:30-11am, children are given a snack and are encouraged to foster friendships through free play activities.
