Dear Hillside Family,
If there were ever a time you’d want to be at church (or invite a friend with you) it’s this Sunday. It’s Hillside’s 42nd Anniversary celebration and, let me tell you, we’re going to have a party.
This Sunday is absolutely going to be one of those “can’t miss”, “you just gotta be here” kind of Sundays. Realizing that it’s our last Anniversary celebration in our current auditorium, our team really wanted to make sure it would be memorable. So, be ready for some laughter, praise, nostalgia and high-powered inspiration. Anyone who thinks church is boring will have to reconsider after Sunday.
It’s also our great joy to welcome Pastor Lennett Anderson as guest speaker for this weekend. Lennett is a dynamic preacher, teacher and community activist from Halifax, NS. In addition to serving as the Senior Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist “The Meeting Place” in Hammond Plains, NS for the past 16 years, he is in great demand as a guest speaker for revivals, youth retreats, conferences, and Promise Keepers Canada gatherings.
To keep it simple, here’s are 4 things you need to know to maximize this Sunday.
1. Choose a Bible verse that you would like to write on the floor of the new auditorium (we’ll have the markers you just need to come prepared with a verse to write after the service).
2. Attend the Dessert Gathering on Sunday night. We’re expecting a large gathering but it’s not too late to sign up and let us know you’re coming. Here’s the link to sign up below. To help us organize the desserts, you’re asked to either bring your dessert on Sunday morning and leave it in the kitchen (someone will be there to receive it from you) or bring it at 5:30pm on Sunday night. Doors open at 5:30pm for everyone on Sunday night. Come early to mingle and grab a coffee, tea or glass of punch before we get started with desserts at 6pm. You don’t want to miss the timely transition updates that will be shared as we prepare for our Grand Opening. Dessert Gathering
3. Prayerfully consider a generous Anniversary Offering. This offering will provide a huge boost as we get ready for the Grand Opening. Our goal of $15,000 will go toward furnishings for both the new Pre-School area (4 year olds) as well as our expanded lobby and to help us advertise (get the word out) about our Grand Opening and Alpha, Youth Alpha, Alpha Marriage initiative to thousands of people in our community. BTW: did you know that 75 people signed up last Sunday for Alpha/Alpha Marriage? Amazing! We’re preparing to host 200 people when it launches on April 3rd. You can give your gift on Sunday or use this link to give electronically (either way be sure to mark your gift “Anniversary). Anniversary Offering
4. Remember that our Anniversary Sunday is not only a time for celebration, but it’s also a call to dedication. God deserves our best and by giving Him our best I believe we can look forward to Hillside’s best days ahead. Thus, it will be my joy and privilege to lead us in a time of covenant renewal on Sunday. Will you be “All In” as we reaffirm our commitments as God’s people? And for some of you, perhaps 2016 will be the year that you will sense God’s nudge to take the next step toward membership. That’s it friends. I’ve got a big afternoon ahead with final prep for our 5th Annual “Better Man” getaway at Camp Wildwood. I just got word this morning that we now have 121 guys registered for this our largest winter getaway yet. God is working! Let’s continue to honour and thank Him for His faithfulness. To God be the Glory great things He has done.
